This is a card that I made for my father's birthday. Measures: 7 x 5 Front: The front was cut from Cricut's Storybook Cartridge. It started as white cardstock and then took Distress Inks “Faded Jeans”, for the outer edges, and “Tea Dye” for the inner part of it, and used the ink applicator to shade it. To finish, I added K and Co. chipboard stickers. For the inside, top, I found some striped paper and cut strips of them and pasted them together around a sentiment that I found online. Under that I used the Cricut's Home Accents Cartridge. I did the blackout and the shadow so I had 3 layers. I used pop dots for dimension. Those 3 layers were white cardstock but I used 2 Distress ink pads...”Peeled Paint” and “Faded Jeans” on them. For the bottom: I took a stamp of a balloon and put it on white cardstock. I used Faded Jeans and Tea Dye distress ink pads on them. I colored in the balloon with metallic gell pens (from walmart's scrapbook section) To finish, I used the Fabulous Finds Cart. To cut out a tag. I used blue cardstock this time. I took another clear stamp for the “happy b-day”. For the “DAD” I used the storybook cartridge. I Inked the side of the tag heavily with Faded Jeans.

This is a card that I made for my father's birthday.

I took another clear stamp for the “happy b-day”. For the “DAD” I used the storybook cartridge. I Inked the side of the tag heavily with Faded Jeans.

(For some reason the left side of the left photo looks brown but it's actually orangy looking, which matches the inside)

This is a birthday card for a friend of mine. It's my first card using masks and distressed inks.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE FRONT
I took a piece of white cardstock that measures 8.5 inches wide x 7.5 inches tall and folded it in half. I then took a Tim Holtz mask (Giant Flourish) and placed it on top. I then took the Ranger Application Tool and a Distressed Ink Pad “Broken China” and covered the right side of the card and took Distressed Ink Pad “Spiced Marmalade” and covered the left side. I took the mask off then repeated the same technique. I just covered the area lightly with the application tool, same colors. I did this because I didn't like the brightness of the white cardstock that shown through where the mask was placed. I then took some flowers, which were also white, and used the following Distressed ink pads: Faded Jeans, Spiced Marmalade, Broken China, Tea Dye, Peeled Paint. I added some diamond jewels,by the Paper Studio, in the center. To finish the front I added the Happy Birthday.

FOR THE TOP INSIDE OF THE CARD
I cut out, using the cricut, 10, 1 inch squares. I took a couple of flourish clear stamps and inked them with black ink. Stamped them randomly. I then added various distressed inks to them. I used at least 10. After that was done I attached them to a tan cardstock, for matting. I wanted those edges distressed so I used “Vintage Photo” on them.

THE BOTTOM OF THE CARD
I took a blank tag and did a VERY light coat of Distressed inks on the entire tag. I used 3 inks..."Mustard Seed" (yellow), "Fired Brick"(dark red) and "Tattered Rose"(light pink/red).

Then, I took masks by Tim Holtz and laid them down on the tag and took the same inks and went over the tag again. Then I used a thicker coat of the inks so the masks would be visible. I used them in 3 spots. It might be hard to see the one at the top of the tag, it's a small flourish. The other 2 are more easily seen in the middle and bottom of tag. The masks I used were flowers. Since they were flowers I added some little diamond jewels by The Paper Studio on the "pedals".

To finish I added a little aqua ribbon and used a stamp for the Birthday saying “Thinking of you on your special day and hoping this year brings you joy, peace and much happiness."

This card was for my new sponsor child and her family. I really enjoyed making it for her.

Before taking them off the mat I inked them with fired brick just like I did with the pine needles. Next, I used a Spellbinders Label 4 die cut and stenciled with Fired Brick ink. To finish that off I added a sticker to it and another one to the left of it.
For the inside, after attaching the background paper, I cut out squares with images on them. I added some red glitter glue to some areas of them. I matted them. Then I took grungeboard stars and added gold glitter glue to them.
For the bottom, I took a rubber stamp with ornament and stamped it on green cardstock. Same paper as the background. I matted it with dark paper so it can stand out a little. I added that large glittered tree and to finish I added HOHOHO which was on a clear stamp

After cutting the front of the card out and attaching it, I cut out 4 squares (each 1 3/8th in) using the Cricut. I then ran each of them through the Cuttlebug using the Snowflake Embossing Folder. I created this small scrapbook album to introduce my family to a special little girl half way around the world. You might notice there is no journaling that's because she doesn't speak English.

How To Instructions:

All papers used are from Alpha Blocks “kit” by DejaViews.
I used a decorative scissors on the striped paper.
I matted the photo with white cardstock and attached the photo in place.
Then I added a couple flower punches. They are 1 inch in size. I used Ranger's Ink Applicator Tool along with distress inks' Antique Linen and Faded Jeans to color them in.
I added a small jewel to the centers.
To finish the page, I used my Cricut Expressions and the Storybook Cartridge to spell out my name.
I also used Antique Linen to color the letters in.

How To Instructions:

I used 3 papers from the Alpha Block kit.
I cut a few strips of cardstock, dark blue, to border the edges of all of them.
After assembeling them I matted the photo with white cardstock I also added photo corners.
Then, I used a flower punch...2 in, 1 ½ inch and 1 inch sizes. I used the ink applicator tool along with Ranger's distress inks to color them.
I did half of the flower in Faded Jeans (blue) and then the other half in Mustard Seed (yellow). I did this for all the flowers. When I put the flowers on top of each other I rotated the flowers so the blue pedals were over a flower with the yellow section of pedals. It really gives a punch.
I also added a jewel for the center of the top flower.
To finish this up, I used the Cricut machine & the Storybook Cartridge for her name...Cindy.

How To Instructions:

I used a solid blue cardstock for the background paper.
I had a strip of paper left over (paper on the left side of layout, it has flowers)so I did some paper piercing on the long sides of the paper. (With a quilling needle, stitching template and a mouse pad to put under it) and added it to the page.
I used a decorative scissors on the striped paper and added it.
I added photo corners to the photograph.
THEN I added another piece of the floral paper over the striped paper. Paper piercing with that as well.
I used the cricut and home accents cartridge for the flourish type of photo corner.
I inked them with the Faded Jeans and Antique Linen distress inks,using the ink applicator tool.
To finish, I took the cuttlebug and a die cut with flowers. I inked them with Mustard Seed (yellow).
To give them some dimension I used glossy accent to cover all 4 of them. The 4th one is at the top right of the layout.

How to Instructions:

I took plain blue cardstock and embossed it using the Cuttlebug and the Paisley Embossing Folder. I left a 1/4th of it in it's original state so I had somewhere to put their names.
When I was done embossing I took “Faded Jeans” distress ink along with the applicator tool and ran it over the folder embossing.
I made some photo corners with the same striped paper as on the previous papers.
I used 2 cricut cartridges, Accent Essentials, for the flourish on the side of the photo, and the Storybook cartridge for the dogs' names.
I used a wavy blue ribbon and a flower jewel charm in the center.
I used distress ink Antique Linen to color the flourish and the dogs names

How to Instructions: RIGHT SIDE OF THE PHOTO: This page didn't go exactly how I wanted it to. But to start, I used the Cuttlebug Embossing folder on the right side of the paper. Then, I used Ranger's Distress Ink Faded Jeans and their ink applicator tool and ran it across the embossed image. I used a wavy blue ribbon to separate the 2 sides, matted and attached the photo.
LEFT SIDE OF THE PHOTO: I used 4 fragments. When I first made the page I want to stamp on each one but the ink refused to dry. I even left it overnight. So to get around that I used another technique using clear embossing powder and alcohol inks. First, I used the ink applicator tool and “gold” alcohol ink to decorate the backside. For the front, I took “stream” and covered each fragment entirely. It dried quickly so I took my clear stamp and after inking it with the embossing pad I pressed it on the fragment. I immediately poured clear embossing powder (any brand is fine) on it and heated it with a heat gun. I let the fragment cool down completely...5 mins or so. To finish, take the blending solution and rub off the alcohol inks. The ink under the embossing powder will stay. It's trapped I guess you could say. I attached each fragment with Ranger's Glossy Accents.

How to Instructions:

I took the background paper and used the Cuttlebug Embossing Folder on just a section of the paper that the photograph covered.
I used the lace ribbon by the paper studio to cover up the lines that the folder creates.
I used Ranger's Ink Applicator Tool and Faded Jeans distress inks and rubbed it over the embossed image, so they are more visible.
I added some small diamond jewels in some of the embossed areas. I used the storybook cricut cartridge for their names.
I used the Plantin Schoolbook cart for the & sign.
I used some of tim holtz' grungeboard for the right side of the layout.
For the heart I used red ink for the heart and used gold ink for the sides.
I then took sandpaper and rubbed it over.
For the flourish I took several different pastel chalk inks to cover it including green, blue and pink.
I used Glossy Accents to glue them in their spot.

How to Instructions:

To start, I took the background paper and used the Cuttlebug Embossing Folder on just a section of the paper that the photograph covered.
I used blue wavy ribbon to cover up the lines that the folder creates.
I used the ink applicator tool, by Ranger, and their distress inks (Faded Jeans)and ran it over the embossed images so they are more visible.
I used the Home décor cartridge for the top of the flower. I cut them out in white cardstock and used distress inks to color them, there are 3 layers.
I used Worn Lipstick for the top layer then Mustard Seed for the middle and Fired Brick for the bottom.
I used green ink on a stamp to create the stem.
Then used 1 inch flower punches for the rest.
I used a stamp under the photo using red ink and then used metallic pens found at walmart. Best metallic pens I've ever owned.

How To Instructions, Left Page:
Both of these photos were taken in Michigan.

Simple page.....I matted the photo with dark blue cardstock to match the blue patterned paper.
I cut out a piece of green cardstock.
I used a doodle template along with a gold metallic pen to decorate the cardstock.
Then I added “MOM” from the storybook cartridge. I cut all 3 layers in white cardstock and use the ranger's distress inks to color them.
TIP: After you cut them, ink them. Don't take the letters off the matt until that's done. If you peel the letters off and THEN try to ink them the letters will tear.

How To Instructions, Right Page:

This picture was taken near a lighthouse so I finally got a chance to use it.

I used black ink for the stamp.
Then I used the Walmart metallic pens to color the lighthouse a little.
I matted the photo of me and done.

How To Instructions:

I matted the photo as seen.
Next, the grungeboard, I used a cuttlebug embossing folder “textile” to emboss it. THE SANDWICH that I used was Plate A (very bottom) then embossing folder with the grungeboard inside, then Plate C. To finish just add a small piece of cardstock maybe even 2 pieces of cardstock. You can run it though several times if you wish. It can't hurt.
I used rangers distress inks along with the applicator tool and covered the entire grungeboard flourish. I cut these to the sizes I needed. After covering them with ink,I wanted to accent SOME areas so I rubbed the ink pads directly onto the 2 pieces. That made the color darker.
To finish, I used the storybook cartridge for my brothers name and I inked them with distress inks.

How to Instructions:

I tore some white cardstock and embossed it with the cuttlebug. I used blue chalk over that area.
Then I used a flower die cut and some self adhesive foam and used them as snowflakes.
I matted and attached the photo.

How to Instructions:

I wanted to do something with the background paper so instead of embossing it, like I should have done but forgot, I used a package of flourish stamps and along with Distress Ink, Broken China, I stamped around the visible edges.
I took 2 pieces of light yellow cardstock and embossed them with the cuttlebug,textile texture embossing folder and placed them under the photo in the bottom left corner and upper right corner.

How To Instructions:

Everything started out as white cardstock.
The background was created using the ink applicator tool and Distress Inks, Faded Jeans and Mustard Seed.
The skyline is from the Plantin Schoolbook. I cut 2 layers. The back layer was inked with walnut ink (distress ink). The top layer is Broken China ink.
I used a metallic pen to create some windows.
I used the Going Places cartridge for the clouds and the Accent Essentials cartridge for the sun.
The grungeboard is the final embellishment. I painted it with white acrylic paint then used metallic pen to create a gold color.
To finish, I used glossy accents (also made by ranger) on the clouds.

Cuttlebug and Embossing Folder

How To Instructions:

I matted the photo with a light tan color.
Because of that, I took a vintage photo ink pad and rubbed it on the sides of it.
I took wooden letters for the CUBS and inked it with Weathered Wood Ink.
I cut out the photo corner leaves from the Storybook Cartridge. I layered 3 of them and inked them with Peeled Paint.
The grungeboard heart was embossed with an embossing folder from Cuttlebug.
Then I inked it with Fired Brick ink.
I attached it with glossy accents.

How to Instructions:

Wrigley Field is known for their ivy so I used a chalk ink (green) and foliage clear stamps and decorated the background paper.
I inked another grungeboard heart after embossing it with the cuttlebug embossing folder, Floral Fancy.
I took walnut ink and inked the edges of the cardstock I matted the photo with.

I made this a 2 layout piece so I had room for the journaling.

How To
I cut Anna Griffin’s papers accordingly, AG286 was cut to 8 inches. AG301 was cut to 7 ½ inches. AG203 was cut to 7 inches. Another piece of AG301 was cut to 5 ¾ inches. After cutting out the photograph, I used mini glue dots and added them to the back of the cruel frame to attach the photo securely. Then I created the other elements. I added the ribbon to the top paper. It measures 5 ¾.inch. The title was made using the computer. The font is Abigail. After cutting out the banner shape I matted it with crème cardstock. I took a gold ini pad and rubbed it on the sides for a distressed look. In the center of the back I added foam adhesive squares to raise it off the page. I added 4 gold mosaic tiles. Lastly I added 2 things, the photo corners to one of the background papers and a bow under the photograph.

How To:
The background papers were cut to the sizes accordingly. The main background (AG 076) is 8 by 8 inches, (AG031) is 7.5 x 7.5, (AG 216) 6.5 x 6.5. I laid purple ribbon between the bottom 2 papers. I added photo corners on the top paper. I used a journaling template and dry embossed the journaling block. I used a gold ink pad and distressed the edges. I wrote in the journaling. I cut out 6 flowers to put under it. I then created the doodles. I wanted a little shadowing……..so I took a clear embossing ink pad and stamped the image and used the pearl ez metallic powder to bring the shadowing in. Then I took a black in pad and stamped it over the metallic powder’ed image. I then added the 6 flowers that I previously cut out. I added the journaling on top and added the beads at the top of it.

First, I created the center piece. To do this, I cut out approx. 22 flowers out of a background paper AG030 (Anna Griffin) .In order to use them I cut them in half. Only half of them will actually be visible. I attached the first row of flowers to the back of the ring. When done, I added the next layer of flowers. Before do this I added foam squares to the top layer to make it 3 dimensional. I did the same for the third layer. I added foam squares to the last layer and attached them. I attached the entire piece to the 7 ½ x 7 ½ crème background paper. Then I attached all of that to an 8 ½ x 8 ½ piece of (Anna Griffin) AG301 paper. To decorate the outside of that paper, I took a floral border punch and some left over scrap paper and used the small flowers that it punched out when using it. The next step was to add the butterfly. It’s a cloth butterfly. Lastly, I created the journaling with a journaling template and a light box. I dry embossed it. I then wrote in the journaling in a gold pen. It reads “1941 My grandmother took a trip to Minnesota to visit her sister Katie. She grew up there. My grandmother was 1 out of 12 children.” I added a copper brad at the top. It can be hidden between the 2 background papers, as seen in the layout.

This is my favorite layout. My grandmother is the one on the far right-side of the photo. It was taken at work, at a Hospital.

Description:
I started by cutting 3 background papers. First is the 8 ½ x 8 ½ inches. Then a square inch smaller for each of the other two. I layered them and attached them all to each other. Then I focused on the photograph. I matted it and then cut 23 flowers out of a background paper (just like the previous layout; look for floral papers that you can make embellishments out of.) It happens to be the same paper that is the furthest layer of background paper. I layered them around the photo. Some have 3D foam squares under them to elevate and some don't. After attaching them, I created the 3 squares at the bottom of the layout. From the top layer down: I cut 3 squares of floral paper measuring 1 ½ inches. Then matted them twice with coordinating Anna Griffin papers. Lastly, I added the title. I created sort of a banner like title. I added a rub on sticker that says “Heritage”. I added 2 small flowers on the sides.

This is a picture of my Great-Grandmother. She had 12 children. Some can be seen in the photo.

Description:
I started with my 2 main background papers. I used Anna Griffin Inc papers except for the solid light purple. I used a border punch on the top paper. I did that to all 4 sides and adhered the 4 corners to the background. Then I took a square template and traced 6 separate 1.5 inch squares with the purple accent paper. I matted them with the background paper. I then used a punch to punch out the daisy flowers. 6 of each size. I then adhered them to the squares. I added the photo in the center. I double matted it. Under the photo, I heat embossed a design which is a border stamp. I placed a couple brads of the sides by using a whole punch. Lastly, I added the journaling which slides behind the photo. It is a digital element which I matched to the paper color. I typed the journaling on the computer.

These digital layouts are of my past and present Pets. I wanted to start my digital layout gallery with them. Descriptions of the layouts are under them.

All the papers you see on these Digital layouts are actual papers. I scanned them into my computer so I could use them this way. Click here to see paper layouts using this kit.

This layout is of my puppy I grew up with. My best buddy. She's been gone since 2003.

To start, I used a solid brown background paper. I went in Paint Shop Pro and brought up the floral paper you see. I created a circle and then cut that down the middle to create the 2 half circles. To create the circle, go in your photo editing software and click on "selections", "circle". Then crop it down the center. I added a shadow to both of them so it looks like it's resting on the background paper. Plus if you don't it will blend in w/ the background paper. I then added lilac pearls beads to the centers of the flowers. I colored them to match the flowers. I added a ribbon behind the photo. I used a Scrapbook Plus software to create the heart shaped photo and matting. Lastly, I added her name.

This is Lucy (when she was a puppy). She's now 4 years old She could fit in the palm of my hand. She's a chihuahua. Her ears were bigger than she was. I used different scrapbook objects from several different kits. I turned the border on the left into an actual border. It didn't start out that way. See the 2 hearts? I used paint shop pro to trace the heart. The heart under the photo is part of the background paper. I wanted to have that same heart separate and smaller. I found a matching frame. The shadow under the frame works great for this instance. The alphabet was part of a different kit but it works great here. I created the 2003 plate.

.Lucy again. The background paper is the same paper as the half circles. See the first layout for instructions on how to make them. I made them a little darker than the background. I simply added the journaling, tag and staple.

Vacation - Interactive layout

This is a great vacation layout. To begin, I made the title. To do that I took my big rub-on sticker and put it on light green cardstock. I put that on a patterned paper. Same as the envelope. Then I matted that on solid beigh cardstock. Next, are the words on the left. I cut the words out of another scrapbook paper. I put them on a darker brown paper and matted it. I added 3 washers that are held on by glue dots. The perfect adhesive. I added the ribbon which also has 2 washers on it. This is the interactive element in the envelope. I took a scrapbook paper and scored the paper every 4x6 inches. I took a scissors made a slit down one of the edges 1/2 way so it folds up nicely. One side has pictures and the other has the journaling for those pictures.

After choosing my background paper I tore a section of the aqua paper and attached it to the top. Then I took a round tin to create the round sections of paper on the bottom. I cut it out very closely. I matted the photo. I also matted the sticker. I put the Santa sticker on green paper and matted with red. I added the various stickers on the top and bottom.

I torn 2 sections of paper. The green and red. I attached them to the background paper. I matted the photograph and added various stickers throught the layout.

8 by 8.5 inch Christmas Layout

I started by cutting a 3 x 8 inch section of green polka dot christmas paper. I attached it to the green paper. I added the ribbon to join the 2. I added the photograph which was matted. I then took the 3 embellishments on the bottom and attached them. I actually CUT them out of another scrapbook paper. TECHNIQUE:
I took my EMBOSSING MARKERS, Red, and filled in the bell on the bottom left embellishment. On the middle one, I wrote over the word "Holidays" so it standed out more. On the Santa I colored in various sections.

8 by 8.5 inch Christmas Layout

This layout helps pinpoint a section of my christmas tree and its decorations.

I cut 4 long pices of green christmas paper 1 inch wide. Then I took a smaller section of the same paper and laid it horizontally under the photograph.

I start by picking the background paper. Then to create the bottom half of the layout, I took a pencil and made a design and cut it out. Eyelets were then added for design purposes. I wanted that edge to be more visable as a design accent. Then, I added the photograph which is of a section of the christmas tree.

{Photography / Scrapbook Tip: Think of your layouts ahead of time. I knew I would eventually made a layout with the pictures I took with my camera. I took a picture of the entire tree and then took pictures of sections of the tree. Pretty much took pictures of the cards people sent (which I put on the tree) and took pictures of the beautiful bows and handmade ornaments.}

CLAY TREE
Next, the clay tree was made by hand. I bought a cookie cutter in the shape for a tree (On 60 cents, a cheap embellishment). I took my Sculpey Polymer Clay and flattened it out with a pasta machine. Pressed the cutter into the clay and you got your tree. For the garland, I took Twill Hemp cord and completely covered it with a glue stick. I did this so the embossing powder would stick to it. I wanted gold garland. I heated it up and it was done. I cut it to size. For the ornaments I took some different colored clay and made some round shapes and glued it on with Tacky Glue. To finish the piece I took some Perfect Pearls metallic powder and covered the tree VERY lightly.

I used the above kit to create the layouts you see below. This is my own personal 8 by 8 inch scrapbook album. Some are pictures of me when I was younger, some with friends & family. These are 2 spread layouts. The photo on the left layout and the journaling on the right layout.

The first 2 layouts show me in the present. The layouts folllowing these two show me from younger to more current photo's.


Techniques used: 3 dimensional photo. I printed 2 of the same photo. I cut myself out of one of them. You can see a shadowing around me. To create this effect, just cut a little bit of the background along with the photo. Other techniques are the 2 torn sections of paper at the bottom. They did not come with the kit but it fits right in. The purple flowers were cut out of another scrapbook paper. I added glitter glue to the centers. I used an alphabet punch to spell my name.	Techniques used: I also had two sections of torn paper. I dry embossed the green paper. After stenciling in I rubbed sand paper on it to bring the image out. I created an envelope, added the journaling. I added a couple flower stickers. At the top, I also used some of the flowers I cut out.

99% of these items came with the Deja View Kit. The 1 technique I used was with Polymer Clay at the bottom, the flower with the white center. I used a mold of flowers. You can find it at your local store. It's made by "Makin' Mold".	I used basic items that came with the kit. I matted the bottom squares with light purple paper. I added the border above it. Add the washers, envelope, journaling and flowers.

Me in my Easter Dress. I also used polymer clay for the bottom element. Next to it, I added 2 eyelets on the sides of the Rub-on sticker. I added a border above them. I matted the photograph. Next to that, I took 2 pieces of green rustic paper and added the 2 rub-on words and matted them. I added buttons to the center of the flowers. Lastly, I added the sticker above the photo.	The Paisleys and flowers work well here. I added the journaling and created the envelope out of the paper that you see if the above layouts.

My brother, friend and I are playing in the living room. Very easy to make. I used 2 pieces of paper and used a border strip where they join. I added a tag next to the photo and used glitter glue to write "1978". I madded the phrases below and added the circle tag.	The one technique I used here are the flowers on the bottom. I have 2 punches. One is smaller than the other and I used eyelets in the centers.

On the bottom of this layout I used 3 small metal rings. I wanted this layout to be a "Then & Now" layout. It ties in with the layout to the right. The top photo is from 1982 and the bottom ones are from 1995,2000,2007.	I used some flowers that did not come with the kit. They are fabric flowers. I added a yellow bead to the centers of it. The flowers next to the journaling, in the center of the layouts, are stickers. I added 2 metal word embellishments at the top. They say "Reflections" & "Growing Up".

My 4 x 8.5 inch Vacation Scrapbook Album

This page contains many layouts. There are a few Disney scrapbook layouts that don't use "conventional" disney products. I wanted to show that it can be done in a different way. To see Disney layouts, made THE CONVENTIONAL way, click the links below.

This is my Vacation Album. I used several vacation destinations. Other than Disney there are Las Vegas & Michigan Layouts.

This is a fairly simple page. It's an 8.5 x 4 inch album.

I choose the main background paper and then tore a section of other patterned paper. Then I added the embellishments. The "cherish the memories" and the large embellishment. I did add a little something to that one. I took my embossing markers, light tan, and created the brown center.

EMBOSSING MARKERS
The markers come in pastels and the one set to the right. IN ORDER TO USE the markers you need clear embossing powder. What you do is after you use the markers you pour the clear embossing powder over it and then heat it up with the gun. It adds a nice glossy effect.

To finish the layout, I used the velvet ribbon as a frame and added 3 Mickey Mouse Ear punches to the 4 corners. DONE!

This is a picture of me my brother and my father when I was little at Disney in FL.

Again, I tore a section of scrapbook paper and attached it to the bottom. I used the same technique on the tag than my previous layouts.TECHNIQUE: I took a section of the same paper as the torn section is. I glued it on the tag. For the top I took a glue stick to cover it and poured gold embossing powder on it. Then heated it up and added the fibers. Lastly, I matted the photo. DONE!

First, I tore a section of the green patterned paper and dry embossed on it.

I added a small charm at the bottom that shows the year. "2005". Next, I matted the photograph and matted the sticker under the photo. DONE!

On this layout I did the dry embossing on the left border of this page. I created the title "The Lands" from an alphabet punch. I used the same blue paper it's matted on. Lastly, I added the photograph which is also matted. DONE!

Michigan Vacation Scrapbook Layouts
I used a patterned brown paper and a plain brown paper.First, I tore a section of the plain paper and attached it to the bottom of the layout. Next, I took 2 rub-on sentiments and add it to that. I matted the photo with green paper. I added several stickers to finish it off. DONE!

HIAWATHA NATIONAL PARK & THEIR WATERFALLS

This layout contains 4 photographs & all the journaling. It's interactive. See where the metal charms is? Well I used Velcro to help keep the whole thing closed. When you lift it up you see this......

I added 4 pictures and the journaling is on the opposite side that you can't see from this page. If you flip the hole thing over you will see it. TO CREATE IT: Take a whole 12 x 12 inch piece of scrapbook paper. Take your ruler make 3, 4 inch x 3 inch boxes. 3 across the top, middle and bottom. (LIKE A TIC-TAC-TOE) Cut out the 4 corners. Then your left iwth what you see above. Add the photo's and bend them inward and do the journaling on the back side. DONE!

This is another interactive layout. I used velcro on the inside flap where it says "Road Trip". Which is a rub-on sticker. I used 1 main background paper. I fed some cardstock through the printer to create the journaling. I matted it with matching paper. I added the sticker below it. Then I create the interactive element that you see on the right.

I created the journaling via computer. Put adhesive on the back stick it on the background paper. Added several charms and a ribbon.

8.5 by 8.5 pet scrapbook layout

The 2 following layouts are togethor.
My tiny 10 week old puppy. This was very easy to make.

I used white cardstock as the background along with the patterned paper below. I matted the photograph with matching paper. I matted the XXXXOOOO rub-on with the same paper. I put a charm on the pic along with some ribbon. Added a couple of punched out daiseys. Added a rubon and another charm under it.

This layout provids the journaling. I decorated it with the same colors as above except I added the light blue as a contrast to the red. First, I created the envelope.Then I choose the colors to go along with it. The Red & Blue. then, I tore the edges.

This took some more time make. It's an interactive layout. The piece on the right, w/ her pic, flips up. See Below.

To start I created the title. I cut out a section from a matching background paper. I used an alphabet punch set for her name. Then I used a daisy punch and punched out 2. Then, TECHNIQUE: I took a flower stamp rubbed it gently on a black ink pad then lightly stamped it in various patterns on the daisy punches. It adds to the "rustic" theme i'm going for. I couldn't leave it plain. I added some small beads and put them in the center of a small metal ring. They are held in my liquid glue that I filled it up with BEFORE putting the beads in.

Then I created the embellishment to the left of the photograph. I used ULTRA THICK EMBOSSING POWDER/ENAMEL (UTEP).

TECHNIQUE: Step 1: I Took the section of paper I used. Step 2: I took a glue stick to the entire area. This way I know that the embossing powder will cover the whole paper. Step 3: Pour the UTEP on it. Heat it up. Step 4: While it is STILL hot. Pour on another layer. Repeat this until you have 4 layers of UTEP. Step 5: After the 4th layer, while it is still hot I poured on a small amount of regular pink embossing powder. Step 6: Heat it up. While it's hot I took my "Moments to Remember" stamp and pressed it in. Keep it there for 10-15 seconds. It has to be completely cooled off before lifting the stamp up.

I then matted it twice. Next, I made the interactive element. I cut a 12 x 3.5 inch of white display cardboard. I wanted something thicker and more durable than cardstock. Cardstock could easily tear when opening and closing it several times. After cutting it I bent it in have and adhered it to the background. I covered it in cardstock. Added the photos and some stickers.

To finish this off I made a clay horsefly. I took some Sculpey Clay and pressed my stamp into the clay. Press hard but not to hard. Lift it up and cut the image out with a craft knife. I took some yellow acrylic paint and dabbed a little on it.

12 by 12 pet scrapbook layout

This layout could be done within minutes. I used the rustic red as a background. I tore a section of "dog bone" paper and glued it on. I added some alpha stickers under the photos. I added some yarn on one side of the photos. I just took a hole punch and punched small holes on the top and bottom. I put the yarn through it. I added other stickers. Then to finish, I took my paw stamp and stamped directly on the rustic red paper. I put some tan cardstock UNDER the rustic red paper. Otherwise I would have to hand glue each toe of the paw. That would take forever and is to difficult to get it perfectly. Done!

I did the same with this layout. Except I added a couple of daisy's from my daisy punch. I have tan daisy's on the bottom and maroon daisy's on top. To get them togethor I used silcone dimensional glue. Dab a small amount then put the 2 daisy's togethor lightly. This makes them 3 Dimensional. It's EXTREMELY durable. You can try to tear the 2 apart and it's difficult. I put a button in the middle to finish it off.

These layouts were comprised of photographs on my vacation trip to Arizona. I have a few cousins that live there. It was sort of a Family Reunion. The pictures you will see on the layouts are of the house we rented while down there. Our family barbeque, the mountains down the street, our dogs etc...

By looking at the layouts and their descriptions you will learn techniques that you might have not known existed. They are all 12 by 12 inch layouts.

They are all 12 by 12 inch layouts. If I use a special or unique technique you will see this "TECHNIQUE:"

The layouts are in order that they appear in my Album.

For this layout I used 3 scrapbook papers. The background is "The Paper Studio", Country Rust. Then, I cut out 2 rows of paper made up of rows of circles. the paper is also from "The Paper Studio", Country Medium Dots. I used green cardstock for matting the photograph. To start I created the title on the top. I cut out a row of the circle background paper. I used an alphabet punch set for the letters and glued them on.

For the "2007" title I used stonewash (blue) Sculpey clay. TECHNIQUE: To get the numbers just right I placed my number stencils over the clay. Then I took my craft knife and cut them out. I used a glue stick to attach them to the paper. Next, I added the vacation sticker under the picture along with the clay pieces I made. I used dark green Sculpey Clay to create the boots and cactus. I took a silver pen to outline the items. FINALLY, I created the tags. That took a little work. TECHNIQUE: The tags started out blank and white. I took some coordinating paper and cut it out so it just covered about 3/4th of the tag. I left the top alone, for now. I adhered it to the tag. I embossed the top with gold powder. I used a glue stick to cover the entire area. I poured the powder on and heated it up. I then added the fiber to the top. To complete the tag I took a transparency and printed our itinerary on it. It lists everything we did on our 2 week 2 day vacation. The jean pocket is a real one. I put them inside for viewing. One thing I did in my Arizona layouts is used a button or two on all of them. Even something little can tie all your layouts togethor. It's some kind of uniformity. Done!

I created 3D photographs to make this layout a little unique. First I took care of the photographs. For the top pic, I started cutting at the sky line. Cut all the way across. I elevated the sky with foam mounting tape. On the bottom pic I again cut along the skyline and elevated everything BUT it.

The top pic is of the mountain down the street from our rental house in Arizona. Taken from the driveway. The bottom pic was taken from the top of that mountain looking down.

To start, I choose 2 main background pages. I cut them and added a velvet ribbon where they meet. I added the 3 small buttons to it. I then attached the photos. TECHNIQUE: Next, I created the stenciled "A" "Z". I took my alphabet stencil, a stylus, and my light-table and dry embossed them. Then I took some sandpaper and rubbed it over the embossed letters. I did this on the green paper. I then cut them out. I put them both on the rustic yellow paper and matted that again with the green paper. I added the 3 small circle embellishments above it. I added the small sticker phrase. TECHNIQUE: Lastly, I created the journalling. I used a ZIP embossing pen to write it out. I put green embossing powder over it and heated it up. I put another sticker, which was matted twice, directly above it. Done!

These pictures were taken at the San Tan National Park in Queen Creek, Arizona.

First, I put the background papers togethor and used the ribbon, once again, to cover up the 2 joining papers. Then, I added the 2 photographs and matted them twice. I again created 3D photos but cutting around the skyline and elevating them. I added the embellishments and created the journaling. I used a special TECHNIQUE for this. The journaling block was an embellishment in a kit. I knew that I wanted to have the text printed on it instead of me writing it. SO, I took the block and scanned it to create it as a JPG. I brought it up in my picture software and typed directly on it. I added a few buttons above and below it.
Done!

Tortilla Flats, Arizona. Population of 6.

I started by creating the title. The letters are stickers. I put them on the rustic yellow paper then matted it with dark blue paper. I then matted it on the yellow rustic paper then matted it 2 more times with rustic green and the dark blue again.

I matted the 2 photos with dark green cardstock. I used an alphabet stamp set for the name of the town. I matted it with green cardstock. I journaled with gold embossing powder just like the other layout. Lastly, I added the 2 yellow, glossy buttons and the 2 vellum stickers. DONE!

This is my favorite page. Tortilla Flats, AZ. again.

First, I matted the photos with The Paper Studio Rustic Stripes, Rustic Mustard, Rustic Red and Blue cardstock. I matted first with the Rustic Stripes and since I wanted the Stripes to be visible against the rustic Mustard. I matted only a portion of the photo with the blue paper. Next, I created the title. I created the town logo with an alphabet punch set. Added 2 buttons and matted it all on the blue paper. I created the journaling via computer.

Lastly, to create the embellishments on the sides of the top photo, I took the Rustic Stripes paper and put a clay cactus on each. Once again, I used a stencil over the clay and cut them out. I matted both with the Rustic Red paper. To finish them off, I took a star rubber stamp and embossed the image on it. On the left I used them to simulate the stars in the sky. (Arizona is the best place to view the stars) on the right one I used it to simulate arizona grass. DONE!

I used the torn paper effect on the embellishments at the bottom of this birthday scrapbook layout. Fairly simple. Just measure and tear.

I tore the edges of the blue text paper on the sites of this baby scrapbook layout.

You don't just have to tear the paper, like the top of this layout, you can create any kind of design. I took a cup and outlined it on the blue and red christmas paper. Just trace it 5 times and you got your borders for your christmas scrapbook layouts.

This is a 2-page pet scrapbook layout. I tore the same paper on both sides.

B. Ways to tear paper

Freehand it, probably most obvious
If you want a controlled tear what I do is take a Q-tip, dip it in water and run it down the paper where you want the tear to be.
Take your ruler and tear the edges against it. A wooden ruler is best because it has a metal strip along it.

TIP: If your paper has a white core and you want that visible tear it towards you. If you don't want the white to show tear it away from you.

Scrapbooks can be designed to reflect either a specific or an ongoing theme.

A scrapbook with a specific theme is limited in scope and number of pages. Weddings, vacations and family histories are examples of specific-theme scrapbooks. The scrapbook's theme is artistically carried throughout the entire album with both colors and layout .

Themes are not limited to just the type of album you are making.

Matting Use matting to make your photos, journaling, and memorabilia stand out on the page. Coordinate matting colors and textures with your photographs and memorabilia rather than detract from the subjects. Use a solid-color mat to blend in with the layout or a patterned mat to stand out. To create a simple photo mat, use a background paper or card stock that's slightly larger than your photo. Position the photo on the mat, and adhere it with archival-quality adhesive. Then trim the mat with straight- or decorative-edge scissors, a craft knife, or a paper trimmer.

Basics: Journaling Techniques & Ideas When you look at your scrapbook layouts, what do you see? Do you just see pictures or accents? Or do you see a story – a life told through words and the magic of scrapbooking. Journaling allows us to tell the story behind all of the pictures we take and the wide assortment of embellishments we add to our pages. How do you journal so you are not distracting from the page but expressing yourself? Well, first off, let’s explain what journaling is. Journaling is the writing or words that are added to your scrapbook page. Your goal when journaling should be to complete the story you want to tell in the layout. You may decide to use only a few words and a title or write a lengthy description of your thoughts and feelings relating to that page. There are several ways you can add journaling to your layouts. Some information you may want to journal are:

• Dates and times
• Summary of the event including who was there
• What was happening when the photo was taken
• How did you feel during the event
• How does the photo make you feel when you look at it
• Poems
• Quotes
• World events or changes
• Times past and future

Here you will find a list of journaling techniques and ideas that you may be able to try in your l

ayouts. Next to each technique, you can click on a link that will show you how it is used in a

real layout.

Handwritten Journaling: Handwrite information you would like included on your page. This may be the title, a few words about the photos and event, or a heartfelt note. Your writing will become a special addition of your scrapbook. Just think of your great-grandchildren reading your words in your writing and having a piece of you to remember. Always use an archival pen or marker for handwritten journaling so your special thoughts stay readable and in good condition for generations to come.

Computer Printed Journaling: With computer fonts, you can create any style needed to coordinate with your layouts. Computer programs allow you to change colors, size and fonts with the click of a mouse. Although computer printed journaling is not as personal as handwritten journaling, you can still express yourself and tell the story that yearns to be told. Try printing as little as a title or a complete story on patterned paper, vellum, even fabric.

Stickers: There are countless styles of alphabet and phrase stickers and rub-ons to use in your layouts that are scrapbook safe. The fonts, colors and shapes available make it easy to find a style that works for you. Stickers can be used for titles, names, dates or to spell out words. Phrase stickers can be a quick way to add journaling to your layouts and can be found various styles as well. nd handwritten journaling.

Stamps: Using stamps on layouts is a fun way to add color and journaling. Stamps come in an assortment of shapes and sizes perfect for creating titles and phrases. With the wide variety of stamp inks and paints available, you can mix and match colors and styles to make distinct journaling for any page. As you go through special times in your life, try to record the occasion and your thoughts as soon as you can so as not to forget the moment. If you don’t have time to scrapbook right away, keep a notebook handy to jot down these events to use later. You will also want to keep mementos of special events. Here are a few keepsakes you may want to hold on to for your scrapbook:

• Menus
• Event Tickets
• Recipes
• Postcards

You can add as much or as little journaling as you feel is appropriate to get your point across.
